Essence Fest Didn’t Hire Me…yet

I didn't get hired by Essence Festival this year and as much as I hated not being on the media team it still taught me something. Creatives often desire to work with the platforms that inspire, challenge, and develop us. Essence Fest definitely checks all three boxes in my life. The 2022 festival was like a family reunion amongst the African-American community as we had been held prisoner by a virus that swept over the entire world.

My friends were selected and given opportunities to work with brands and companies that often open doors throughout the remaining year. I simply wanted to join them by creating/documenting this amazing event. Check out this visual that speaks to my experience of when one door closes you fight to enter another. Here's some of the footage that I capture with the intention of making 2022 my last year of not being on the Essence Festival Media Team. Do me a favor and tag them in the comments below so that we can get this done and manifested!!
